This guide compares pricing across 9 freight forwarding platforms, breaks down the three pricing models shaping the market, and gives you a checklist to take into your next vendor demo. We built it for US-based freight forwarders evaluating their options, to give you the pricing data vendors don't publish.
But those ranges hide more than they reveal.
On December 1, 2025, WiseTech Global moved 95% of CargoWise customers to a new per-transaction pricing model called Value Packs. Forwarders reported cost increases of 20 to 50 percent overnight. That single change forced thousands of freight forwarding companies to re-evaluate what they pay for software, and whether they're getting a fair deal.
Freight forwarding software pricing ranges from $75/user/month for entry-level platforms to over $500/user/month for enterprise suites, or $5,000 to $50,000+ per year for mid-size operations, reaching six figures for global enterprises. The actual cost depends on three variables: your team size, monthly shipment volume, and the features you need.
Freight Forwarding Software Pricing Comparison
Here's the full breakdown across 9 platforms for 2026, focused on US-based freight forwarders:

What the Ratings Tell You
Look at CargoWise's split: 4.3 on G2, 2.9 on Capterra. That 1.4-point gap isn't random. G2 reviewers skew toward enterprise operators who can absorb the complexity. Capterra reviewers skew toward companies under 1,000 employees, and the harshest reviews come from 2–10 person shops. The same product gets praised by a 500-person logistics provider and criticized by a 5-person forwarder. Size determines experience.

How Much Does Freight Forwarding Software Cost in 2026?
The short answer: it depends on your operation's size and the pricing model the vendor uses. Here's what the market looks like right now:
| |||
Operation Size | Typical Annual Cost | Per-User Monthly Range | Examples |
|---|---|---|---|
Small forwarder | $4,500–$15,000/yr | $75–$150/user/mo | CargoEZ, Logitude World, Shipthis, Linbis |
Mid-size forwarder | $15,000–$100,000/yr | $100–$400/user/mo | CargoEZ, GoFreight, Magaya, Descartes Aljex |
Enterprise forwarder | $100,000–$2,400,000+/yr | Custom quote / per-transaction | CargoWise, Descartes One, Magaya Enterprise |
Those numbers come with a caveat: only 23% of freight forwarders have digitized 75% or more of their business processes, according to Magaya's 2025 State of Digitization Report. Many forwarders still run on spreadsheets or legacy systems. If you're evaluating software for the first time, you're joining a market that's growing at 9.6–11.2% annually and projected to reach $4.7 billion by 2035.
But here's the number that matters most: the average US freight forwarder operates on a 3.5% profit margin, according to ExFreight's 2025 profitability analysis. And 92% of forwarders expect margins to tighten in 2026. When your software cost jumps 20–50% and your margin is 3.5%, you feel it immediately.
Freight Software Pricing Models Explained
Every freight forwarding platform uses one of three pricing models, and which model a vendor chooses affects your costs far more than the sticker price. Understanding the model matters because it determines how your costs scale as your business grows.
1. Per-User / Per-Seat SaaS (Subscription)
How it works: You pay a fixed monthly fee per user. Add a user, add a seat fee. Your cost scales with headcount, not shipment volume.
Typical range: $75–$400/user/month
Vendors using this model: GoFreight, Logitude World ($75–$99/user/mo), Shipthis ($89/user/mo), Magaya (~$200–$300/user/mo)
Best for: Forwarders with high shipment volume relative to headcount. If your revenue grows while your headcount stays flat, your profit margins improve, your software cost doesn't chase your volume.
Watch out: Some vendors charge per-user plus transactional add-ons. Shipthis, for example, charges $89/user/month for core modules (shipment management, CRM, tariff, quotation, accounting, WMS) but layers transactional fees for automated tracking and eAWB on top.
2. Per-Shipment / Per-Transaction
How it works: You pay a fee every time you process a shipment, customs entry, or logistics job. No seat fees. Your cost scales with business activity.
Typical range: $0.50–$19.95 per shipment/transaction
Vendors using this model: CargoWise ($2.63–$19.95/shipment), Transportial (from $0.50/shipment)
Best for: Small operations with large teams, you pay for what you process, not for every person who logs in.
Watch out: This model directly ties your software cost to your operational volume. High-volume, low-margin shipments get penalized. A forwarder processing 5,000 shipments/month at $19.95 each pays $99,750/month, nearly $1.2M/year, in software fees alone.
"I don't think any forwarder has an extra 35% of margin that they can just put towards this."
Freight forwarder, The Loadstar
3. Tiered / Module-Based SaaS
How it works: Pricing scales by both user count and feature modules. You start with a base tier and add modules (WMS, customs, CRM) as you need them.
Typical range: $150–$299/month for base tiers, scaling with volume and user count
Vendors using this model: Linbis (Startup $150/mo for 1 user, Premium $299/mo for 3 users with WMS), GamaSuite (starting $199/mo)
Best for: Forwarders who want to start small and add capabilities over time without paying for modules they don't use.
Tip: A cheap entry tier that gates needed features behind expensive add-ons is not actually cheap. Always calculate the cost of the tier you'll actually need, not the starter price.
CargoEZ Pricing: All-in-One Forwarding with AI Built In
CargoEZ is an end-to-end freight forwarding platform that covers the full shipment lifecycle, from quotation to final delivery, with AI built into the core. It targets the mid-market gap: forwarders who need enterprise-depth features (customs, accounting, document automation) without the enterprise price tag or year-long implementation.
CargoEZ Pricing Model
CargoEZ uses custom quote-based pricing tailored to your operation's size and workflow requirements. There is no published price list. A 5-person air freight shop and a 40-person multimodal operation have different scopes of work, and CargoEZ prices accordingly.
What the pricing includes:
| ||
Module | Capability | Extra Cost |
|---|---|---|
Forwarding Operations | Air, ocean, and ground shipment management, lead to delivery | Included |
ACE, ISF 10+2, AMS filing | Included | |
Automated quoting with rate comparison across carriers | Included | |
Lead tracking, customer visibility, self-service tracking | Included | |
Accounting | Invoicing, AP/AR, financial reporting | Included |
Document classification, data extraction, intelligent routing | Included | |
BOL, eAWB, commercial invoices, packing lists | Included | |
Implementation & Onboarding | Dedicated onboarding, data migration, live training | Included |
How CargoEZ Pricing Compares
The differences that matter most when comparing CargoEZ to other platforms:
All-in-one pricing. Every module in the table above is included. No per-module add-ons, no feature gates behind premium tiers. Compare that to CargoWise (per-transaction fees on every shipment) or Magaya (custom quote per user, WMS often a separate module).
AI included at no extra cost. Unlike CargoWise, where a Citi research note reported plans to charge separately for AI agents, CargoEZ's AI capabilities ship in the base platform.
No implementation fees. Onboarding and data migration are included in the subscription. CargoWise implementations run $100K–$2M+; even GoFreight and Magaya sometimes charge setup fees for complex migrations.
Transparent contract terms. No 30-day notice price changes, no hidden transaction surcharges, no exit fees for your data. CargoWise contracts require only 30 days' notice for pricing changes, which is how 95% of customers were migrated to Value Packs with minimal warning.
Implementation: Under 4 Weeks
This is where the cost comparison extends beyond subscription price. Implementation is often the largest hidden cost in freight software.
| ||
Platform | Typical Timeline | Implementation Cost |
|---|---|---|
CargoEZ | Under 4 weeks | Included |
CargoWise | 6–24 months | $100,000–$2,000,000+ |
GoFreight | 4–8 weeks | Often included |
Magaya | Weeks to months | Varies (custom quote) |
Logitude / Shipthis | 2–4 weeks | Included (limited scope) |
CargoEZ's go-live in under 4 weeks includes dedicated onboarding, data migration from your existing system, and live training for your team. Not self-service video tutorials, not a 6-month project plan.
Who CargoEZ Is Built For
CargoEZ is purpose-built for US-based mid-size freight forwarders: 10 to 50 user operations processing hundreds to thousands of shipments per month. Forwarders who need the feature depth of an enterprise platform (customs, accounting, AI) without the enterprise price tag or the 12-month implementation timeline.
If you're currently running on spreadsheets, outgrowing a basic TMS, or evaluating whether your CargoWise costs still make sense after the Value Pack change, CargoEZ was built for that exact decision point.
Get a straight answer on pricing. Request a custom quote based on your team size and shipment volume. CargoEZ will put the pricing in writing on your first call.

Robert Petti, CEO of Prompt Global, The Loadstar
What Happened After the First Invoices
The first Value Pack invoices arrived in January 2026. Many included a line item called "Transitional Pricing Protection" (TPP), an adjustment that temporarily matched old pricing. WiseTech CEO Zubin Appoo confirmed in January 2026 that TPP has no fixed end date and contracts require only 30 days' notice of price changes.
By September 2026, Appoo described the impact as: "Some pay more, some pay far more, some pay less, some pay far less." CargoWise revenue for FY26 was $756.9 million, up 11%, with most of that growth coming from the Value Pack migration.
October 2026 update: A Citi research note reported WiseTech plans to charge separately for future CargoWise AI agents. Six agentic capabilities currently remain inside the Value Packs.
Can You Pass CargoWise Costs to Shippers?
WiseTech says the automation fee can be treated as a disbursement and passed to your customer. The industry says otherwise.
"Their response that 'it's up to the forwarder whether they recover these costs' is far from true."
Jay Rogers, MA Logistics, The Loadstar
The core problem: shippers view freight forwarding as a commoditized service. Adding a "CargoWise automation fee" line item risks losing business. One forwarder told The Loadstar that when they warned a customer about the fee, the customer said they would switch forwarders.
What Forwarders Are Saying on Review Platforms
"Cargowise raised its prices 4 times which is insane."

"Extremely complicated costing with numerous charges and many hidden charges. The only reason for such complex costing is to charge more and mislead customers."
Capterra reviewer
"The rating engine is very powerful... The price has increased exponentially in recent months, but we are following our gut to stick with it... it does so many things for us and does them well."
David B., Operations Manager, G2 review
That last quote captures the CargoWise dilemma: the product is powerful, but the pricing is painful. For a direct feature-by-feature comparison, see CargoEZ vs CargoWise. The Software Advice customer support score of 1.9 out of 5 adds another layer, when you're paying more, you expect better support.

GoFreight's Pricing Advantage
GoFreight's pricing model is the inverse of CargoWise's: costs scale with headcount, not shipment volume. For a high-volume forwarder with a lean team, this means your software cost stays flat even as you process more shipments.
GoFreight also bundles AI features into the base subscription, no extra charge. Compare this to CargoWise, where a Citi note reports future AI agents may be priced separately.

Descartes is the rare freight software vendor that publishes pricing. Their Aljex product targets US domestic trucking and brokerage operations.
Descartes Aljex Published Pricing
| |||
Plan | Monthly Price | Users Included | Annual Cost |
|---|---|---|---|
Essential | $499/mo | 5 users | $5,988 |
Professional | $999/mo | 15 users | $11,988 |
Enterprise | $2,375/mo | Custom | $28,500 |
Source: Capterra Descartes Aljex, SaaSWorthy
With a G2 rating of 4.6/5 across 431 reviews, Descartes Aljex has the highest review count in this comparison. Reviewers highlight excellent load management, carrier tracking, and accounting integration.
Descartes One Platform (Enterprise)
For international freight forwarding, Descartes offers its broader One Platform suite with customs compliance across 160+ countries. This is custom-priced for enterprise operations and typically falls in the $100K–$500K+ annual range. Descartes' strength is global trade compliance, it's the go-to for forwarders where customs accuracy is non-negotiable.
Affordable Freight Software for Mid-Size Forwarders
Not every forwarder needs, or can afford, an enterprise platform. If you're a mid-size US forwarder looking for the most cost-effective option, these vendors publish their pricing and offer lower entry points:
| |||
Vendor | Starting Price | Core Modules Included | Free Trial |
|---|---|---|---|
Logitude World | Smart: $75/user/mo | Forwarding, docs, CRM, rate mgmt, digital portal, workflow automation | Yes |
Shipthis | $89/user/mo (core) | Shipment mgmt, CRM, tariff, quotation, accounting, WMS. Tracking & eAWB extra. | Yes |
Linbis | Startup: $150/mo (1 user) | Forwarding, WMS (Premium), inventory. Enterprise custom. | Yes |
GamaSuite | Starting $199/mo | Forwarding, operations. Scales by volume and user count. | Demo |
"When evaluating costs, factor in setup fees, module add-ons, implementation time, and how pricing scales as you add offices or users, a cheap entry tier that gates needed features behind expensive add-ons is not actually cheap."
Logitude World, 2026 Comparison Guide
Common Cost Factors That Affect Your Price
The base subscription is rarely the full picture. Six factors determine what you'll actually pay:
1. Team Size / User Count
Per-user platforms charge for every seat. Some offer tiered pricing (5-user vs 15-user plans), while others charge per head. If your company has seasonal contractors or shared logins, ask whether concurrent-user pricing is available.
2. Monthly Shipment Volume
Per-transaction models like CargoWise's Value Pack tie your cost directly to operational volume. A forwarder processing 1,000 FCL import shipments per month pays $19,950/month in CargoWise automation fees alone. A forwarder processing 200 pays $3,990. Volume is the single biggest cost variable under this model.
3. Key Features Needed
Not every forwarder needs every module. If you're a US-based air freight forwarder, you likely don't need multi-modal warehouse management or global customs filing across 75 countries. Avoid paying for enterprise-grade modules if your operations only cover specific niches like air or LTL forwarding.
4. Add-Ons & Transactions
Extra costs that don't appear in the base price: automated tracking notifications, eAWB generation, customs filings, API integration usage, document generation (BOL), and custom report building. Ask vendors explicitly which of these are included and which cost extra.
5. Implementation & Migration
This is where the biggest surprises live. CargoWise implementations can run $100,000 to $2 million+ with timelines of 6–24 months, according to CheckThat.ai's TCO analysis. GoFreight's implementation is typically included in pricing and takes 4–8 weeks. The difference in upfront cost can exceed the first year's subscription.
6. Billing Frequency
Annual payment discounts are common across SaaS platforms. Some vendors offer 10–20% discounts for annual vs monthly billing. Always ask, it's rarely advertised upfront.
Industry benchmark: Freight forwarders should invest 3–5% of gross revenue in technology. For a forwarder with $10M in revenue, that's $300K–$500K annually across all tech. Reality is lower, most forwarders spend 1–3% of revenue on technology, though that number is rising fast in 2026.
Hidden Costs Every Forwarder Should Know
The most expensive software is the one that costs more than you budgeted. Here are the costs vendors don't always mention upfront:
Implementation & Professional Services
For enterprise platforms, professional services often account for 40–60% of total implementation investment, and organizations frequently underestimate these costs by 50% or more (source). One CargoWise reviewer on CheckThat.ai noted that consultant teams were still engaged three years after go-live.
Training & Onboarding
CargoWise includes WiseTech Academy training for free under Value Packs. But complex systems still require months of hands-on training. GoFreight reviewers consistently cite fast onboarding (weeks, not months) as a key advantage. If your team needs to be productive quickly, the "free training" on a complex platform might cost you more in lost productivity than paid training on a simpler one.
Support Tiers
Basic support is often included. Premium support, faster response times, phone access, dedicated account managers, frequently costs extra.
"Support is woeful... No telephone support, implementation team have no knowledge of the product."
Steve H., Software Advice review
API & Integration Fees
Connecting your freight software to existing accounting systems, CRM, or carrier APIs may require custom developer work or paid middleware. CargoWise charges $2,500/month for read-only SQL access and $200/month per secured link or VPN.
Data Migration & Exit Costs
Capterra reviewers report CargoWise charges exceeding $1,000 for leaving the platform plus additional charges for backup copies of data. Always ask about data export costs and formats before signing.
Price Escalation
CargoWise contracts require only 30 days' notice for pricing changes. That's how 95% of customers were migrated to Value Packs with minimal warning. Check whether your contract includes an annual price escalation cap, and what happens if it doesn't.
Tired of hidden fees and surprise price hikes?
CargoEZ pricing includes all modules, AI features, and implementation - no per-transaction surcharges, no 30-day notice changes, no exit fees.
How to Evaluate Freight Software Pricing: 5-Step Framework
Looking for a broader feature comparison first? See our best freight forwarding software guide.
Looking past the base subscription sticker price to understand your Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) is essential. Because vendors use varied pricing structures, from per-seat licenses to per-transaction volume caps, an apples-to-apples comparison requires a structured approach.
Step 1: Calculate Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) Over 3 Years
Combine these four costs into a single 3-year projection:
Subscription fees (monthly/annual x 36 months)
Implementation and onboarding costs (one-time)
Data migration fees (one-time)
Projected growth, will you add users or process more shipments in year 2 and 3?
Low upfront monthly costs often hide expensive professional services or mandatory configuration fees. A platform at $99/user/month with $200,000 implementation costs more over 3 years than a platform at $200/user/month with implementation included. Platforms like CargoEZ and GoFreight include implementation in the subscription, which can shift the 3-year TCO significantly in their favor.
Step 2: Analyze the Cost Scaling Curve (Headcount vs. Volume)
This is the fork that separates the two dominant pricing models:
Per-User Pricing scales with your staff size. If your revenue grows while your headcount stays flat, your profit margins improve.
Per-Shipment/Transaction Pricing scales with your business activity. This ties your software cost directly to your operational volume, which can penalize rapid growth or high-transaction, low-margin shipments.
Model both scenarios for your operation: what happens to your software cost if shipments grow 50% in year 2? What if you hire 5 more people? The answer determines which model saves you money.
Step 3: Interrogate Hidden Fee Triggers
Ask vendors specifically about surcharges for:
API integration calls
Automated tracking notifications
Extra document generation (BOL, eAWB beyond quota)
Custom report building
Premium customer support tiers
Cloud hosting overages
Step 4: Review Contract & Price Escalation Terms
Check whether the vendor:
Locks you into multi-year commitments without performance clauses
Allows un-capped annual price inflation ("from time to time" price changes)
Requires less than 90 days' notice for pricing changes
Charges early termination penalties
"It was like an episode of Black Mirror, logging directly into your production environment the eve of Black Friday."
Jamie Andrade, SVP Product Management, SEKO Logistics (on the December 2025 CargoWise Value Pack rollout)
Step 5: Weigh Feature Utility vs. Bloat
Avoid paying for enterprise-grade modules (complex warehouse management, global multi-modal accounting suites) if your operations only cover specific niches like air or LTL forwarding. CargoWise includes 216+ modules in its Value Pack, but GoFreight reports many users utilize less than 50% of those modules while paying for all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does freight forwarding software cost?
Freight forwarding software costs $75–$500+ per user per month for SaaS platforms, or $5,000–$50,000+ per year for mid-size operations. Enterprise platforms like CargoWise can cost $100,000–$2.4 million+ annually depending on shipment volume. The three main variables are team size, monthly shipment volume, and features needed.
What is per-shipment pricing in freight software?
Per-shipment (or per-transaction) pricing charges a fee every time you process a shipment or customs entry. CargoWise's Value Pack model charges $2.63–$19.95 per shipment depending on type. This model has no per-user fees but scales directly with your business volume.
Is CargoWise pricing going up in 2026?
CargoWise migrated 95% of customers to Value Pack pricing in December 2025, with forwarders reporting 20–50% cost increases (The Loadstar, Breakbulk News). As of October 2026, WiseTech's contracts require only 30 days' notice for pricing changes, and a Citi research note suggests future AI agents may be priced separately.
What is the cheapest freight forwarding software?
The most affordable published-price options are Logitude World at $75/user/month (Smart plan), Shipthis at $89/user/month, and Linbis at $150/month for their Startup tier (1 user). However, the cheapest option isn't always the best value, evaluate total cost of ownership including implementation, add-ons, and scaling costs.
Can you negotiate freight software pricing?
Custom-quote vendors (GoFreight, Magaya, CargoWise) typically have negotiation room, especially for multi-year commitments or larger user counts. Published-price vendors (Logitude, Shipthis, Descartes Aljex) have less flexibility but may offer annual billing discounts of 10–20%.
What's the difference between per-user and per-shipment pricing?
Per-user pricing (GoFreight, Magaya, Logitude) charges based on how many people use the software. Per-shipment pricing (CargoWise) charges based on how many transactions you process. Per-user is better for high-volume, lean-team operations. Per-shipment is better for large-team, low-volume operations. Model both scenarios with your actual numbers.
How long does freight software implementation take?
Implementation timelines range from 2–4 weeks for basic platforms (Logitude, Shipthis) to 4–8 weeks for mid-tier (GoFreight) to 6–24 months for enterprise systems (CargoWise, Descartes One). Implementation costs for enterprise platforms can run $100,000–$2 million+.
Is free freight forwarding software available?
No fully free freight forwarding software exists for professional operations. Some vendors offer free trials (Logitude World, Shipthis, Linbis) that let you test the platform before committing. The lowest starting price in the market is Logitude World at $75/user/month.
What is CargoWise Value Pack pricing?
CargoWise Value Packs replaced per-user licensing with per-transaction fees on December 1, 2025. List prices: $19.95 for a full FCL import with inland leg, $9.95 for a standalone customs entry, down to $2.63 for gateway/transit shipments. No seat fees, no standard hosting fees, unlimited users, 216+ modules included. However, forwarders have reported 20–50% overall cost increases under the new model.
How does freight forwarding software pricing compare to accounting software?
Freight forwarding software is significantly more expensive than general accounting software because it bundles specialized functions: shipment management, customs filing (ACE, ABI, ISF for US operations), carrier integrations, rate management, and compliance, alongside the accounting module. Many forwarders use their freight platform's built-in accounting rather than a separate system, which consolidates cost.
